Padang Padang is one of the “hidden” beaches in Bali. After the movie Eat, Pray, Love starring Julia Roberts came out, it became one of the not-so-hidden beaches in Bali. To get to the beach, one must walk down a narrow and steep flight of stone steps, through a rock tunnel, while looking out for monkeys who have a tendency to steal items from visitors. But don’t fret; it’s worth it.
Once you emerge from the tricky path to Padang Padang Beach, the vast horizon and sparkling waters will welcome you. Padang Padang Beach is a great surf spot during the wee hours of the morning, but around nine, more tourists start arriving and it gets a bit crowded.
There are stalls where you can buy sarongs, drinks, and other items. You will have to pay a small fee to use the toilet/shower. Once you find a nice spot on the beach and secure your valuables, you may go frolic in the cold waters rushing in from the Indian Ocean.
